Delicious deviled eggs are the perfect appetizer for special occasions, parties, and picnics. With a smokey sprinkle of paprika on top, these are sure to be a hit!
These beautiful little deviled eggs are no doubt the first thing to be gobbled up at the holiday table. They are the perfect bite size appetizer or snack for your cookout or picnic – delicious, quick to make, and everyone loves them! What a yummy way to serve eggs!
My first time trying deviled eggs was back when my husband (then – boyfriend) and I were going to school together. His mom made them for us during the holidays and I was amazed at how delicious they always were. She makes them based on a recipe that was passed down from her mom, my husband’s Nana. Nana’s recipe is so delicious, I had to make it our tradition as well… so now I make these for just about every family get-together, especially holidays, and it’s always a hit!
Ingredients you need to Make Deviled Eggs
You will need:
- Eggs – Use perfectly hard boiled eggs. I recommend this Instant Pot recipe.
- Mayonnaise – Use your favorite, tastiest real mayonnaise. I love to use Duke’s.
- Dry Spices – Garlic Powder, Ground Mustard, Ground Thyme, Salt, Black Pepper, Smoked Paprika (a must!)
How to Make the Best Deviled Eggs
Since these little deviled eggs are served chilled I always make them a bit ahead of time. You can also cook the eggs ahead of time and mash/assemble everything right before you’re going to serve them!
My favorite easy way to make perfect hard boiled eggs is this recipe from Kristine’s Kitchen. You can also boil them on the stove top, but I find the Instant Pot method foolproof and easy because its so hands off.
To begin, carefully cut your hard boiled eggs in half like shown above. Scoop out the yolks into a bowl and mash, mash, mash. A fork works best – just keep mashing until no big pieces remain.
Now, add the remaining ingredients (except the paprika) to the mashed up yolks: mayonnaise, garlic powder, ground mustard, ground thyme, salt and pepper. Keep mixing and mashing everything with your fork until it’s perfectly smooth. I found that 1/3 cup mayonnaise is perfect for us, but add more mayonnaise if you want the filling even more creamy and smooth.
For the final step, add some filling to each egg and sprinkle some paprika on top! My favorite way to do this is to scoop the yolk mixture into a ziplock freezer bag, use scissors to cut the corner off and pipe the filling into each egg. The final touch is to sprinkle some smoked paprika on each deviled egg. You can’t miss this step, I promise it’s the best!
I hope you enjoy this special recipe! As always, let me know how it turned out in the comments below ❤️

My favorite method of cooking hard boiled eggs is using the Instant Pot. Kristine’s Kitchen has a wonderful recipe to use here.
Make ahead and enjoy these chilled. This makes a perfect make-ahead holiday, cookout, or picnic dish.
I like to buy whole spices and grind them using a Mortar and Pestle to bring out more flavor (affiliate link – see out disclosure here).

Oh, Anya! I am so glad to know that you continue this tradition. I take them to just about every pot luck, and they always disappear. Thank you for sharing them in your cookbook. I print every recipe and put it in a looseleaf binder of your recipes. It would be a perfect wedding gift for Svetlana and Dmitry some day.
