This Brazilian Avocado ice cream is velvety smooth, creamy, and delicious! It’s a surprisingly wonderful dessert with a dreamy texture – the avocado flavor comes through very subtly with bright hints of lime. It’s also incredibly simple and easy to make with no eggs required.
I first got the idea to make Avocado Ice Cream when my friend from Brazil told me avocado is a popular flavor for ice cream and other treats in Brazil. I was very intrigued. It’s definitely an unusual dessert ingredient in America and I certainly haven’t seen it or tried it before.
After much recipe testing I came up with the perfect recipe for this amazing treat. I am blown away by how delicious, smooth and velvety it is! It’s the dreamiest ice cream ever! The flavor of avocado is very delicate and subtle and the lime juice brightens it up and compliments it beautifully. If you like avocados you will LOVE this ice cream! I have to say though, even if you aren’t a huge fan of avocado you will still love this ice cream because there’s just something magical that happens in this recipe – it’s super YUM!
On my quest to create the most perfect avocado ice cream I tried a custard version using eggs and I actually found that the easy no-eggs version is way better! The avocados are so creamy that they make this ice cream just the perfect texture and make it SO easy to scoop. I also found that the extra step of straining the mixture through a fine mesh strainer ensures the BEST avocado ice cream with no little lumps – it’s very much worth the few minutes it takes.

How do you make Brazilian Avocado Ice Cream?
This is such a simple recipe! We first start by placing your scooped-out avocado into a blender.
Then, add lime juice and whole milk. Blend on medium/high until very smooth.
Using a fine mesh strainer strain the ice cream mixture into a large mixing bowl removing any little chunks.
Add the sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and sea salt, then whisk everything together well.
Churning the Avocado Ice Cream
That’s it! You’re ready to churn the avocado mixture in your ice cream maker. How easy was that? So simple and delicious! I use my KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment for this job, and it always does great! I keep the ice cream maker bowl in my freezer – that way when I am feeling like making a quick batch of ice cream I can do it anytime.
Now it’s time to transfer your ice cream into a freezer safe glass or plastic container with an airtight lid. Freeze the ice cream for 4 – 8 hours (I usually leave it in the freezer overnight). I must confess a lot of it will be gone before you have a chance to freeze it. It’s SO good! Especially with a soft serve consistency. After the very long wait while it freezes you can finally enjoy a nice BIG scoop or two (or three). Yum!
